Athena Cosmetics, inc. Maker of RevitaLash®, Lashes Out Against Breast Cancer
Company Continues Support of Breast Cancer Research with Commitment to University of Washington School of Medicine
Athena Cosmetics, Inc. today announced a donation of $10,000 to support forward-looking research projects, including the Tumor Vaccine Group at the University of Washington. This contribution makes the latest in the company’s on-going commitment to fight Breast Cancer.
Since the company launched its first product, RevitaLash®, this mission has been in the hearts and minds of everyone at the company. Gayle Brinkenhoff, wife of Dr. Michael Brinkenhoff who created RevitaLash®, is a breast cancer patient and survivor. So, supporting breast cancer initiatives is of paramount importance to the company.
“Athena Cosmetics, Inc. is committed to using a portion of our corporate profits to support breast cancer research and educational initiatives,” states Michael Brinkenhoff, M.D., President. “We are excited and impressed with the University of Washington’s Tumor Vaccine Group and its mission to conduct basic and clinical cancer research that leads to the development of effective immune-based cancer therapies. Their work with the multi-antigen breast cancer vaccine program is particularly promising and we are delighted to contribute towards its success.”
The groundbreaking work at the Tumor Vaccine Group emphasizes translational research, which means that under one roof efforts are moved from the lab bench to the bedside. “Our integrative research approach is gaining wider recognition throughout the cancer research community,” comments Nora Disis, M.D., Principal Investigator. “We appreciate Athena Cosmetics’ commitment to breast cancer research, and their support in helping us generate novel approaches to cancer treatment.”
About RevitaLash® and Athena Cosmetics, Inc.
RevitaLash® Eyelash Conditioner was developed by an ophthalmologist who was motivated to create a safe cosmetic product to enhance the beauty and attractiveness of women’s natural eyelashes after his wife’s eyelashes were devastated by chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. To honor its beginnings, Athena Cosmetics, Inc. contributes a portion of the proceeds from sales of RevitaLash® to support breast cancer research and educational initiatives.
Athena Cosmetics, Inc. was established in November, 2006. RevitaLash® Eyelash Conditioner, the company’s original product, has received an overwhelmingly positive response from women around the world. RevitaLash® can be found in more than 5,000 physician’s offices, premium spas and salons across the country and around the world. Other Athena Cosmetics products include Hair by Revitalash® and Mascara by Revitalash®.
